Health systems, employers and patients have a dizzying array of options when it comes to picking a virtual care solution that fits their needs. So, how do you navigate what makes all of these options different? Well, you can consider cost, access, specialties, features and functionality.

And, of course, don’t forget quality.

At Ovatient, we believe the true potential of virtual care is unlocked only when quality measures are tracked and reported. That starts with our virtual-first care model and extends to our measurement framework. Here’s how we approach this critical issue.

Quality is the Backbone of Effective Virtual Care

Quality measures are essential for delivering effective virtual care. They create a framework for evaluating and enhancing the patient experience, clinical outcomes, and the overall efficiency of virtual care services. By implementing comprehensive quality metrics, we guarantee that patients receive the same high level of care they expect from in-person visits, while enjoying the convenience of care no matter where they are.

One key aspect of quality that is built into our virtual-first care model is its seamless integration with trusted health systems. Our team of specialized virtual providers collaborates closely with our health system partners and their care teams. This partnership between providers and patients ensures the virtual care patients receive is a well-connected extension of their overall healthcare journey. We’ve achieved this by building our solution directly on Epic and MyChart.

Open lines of communication and the sharing of vital patient information create a continuum of care that bridges the gap between virtual and in-person services. We also collaborate with our health systems customers to make sure we are tracking the quality measures that are important to them and then reporting back to them so they can monitor progress and compare our effectiveness compared to their existing practice areas.

The Importance of Provider Credentials

Credentialing is another vital component of our approach to maintaining high standards in virtual care. Our providers undergo a rigorous credentialing process with our local health system partners, adhering to the stringent standards set by The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

We also train our providers on how to deliver care virtually, using best practices and the latest findings from peer-reviewed research to ensure our approach is evolving and improving. Our providers undergo regular reporting and quality reviews to ensure they know how they are performing on pre-determined clinical metrics. Our dedication to quality and ongoing reviews keep our providers up to date with the latest medical advancements and virtual care best practices, as well as aware of their day-to-day performance.

Focus on Patient Outcomes and Satisfaction

Patient outcomes and satisfaction are central to quality measures in virtual care. We use a data-driven approach to continuously monitor and improve our services. By tracking key performance indicators such as clinical outcomes, patient engagement, and follow-up care adherence, we identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions to enhance the overall quality of care.

Each patient also gets a comprehensive survey, which explores their overall experience, as well as asks questions like whether they felt their provider understood their needs and provided them with the care and resources they needed to promote their good health.

We’re proud to report a net-promoter score over 80, ranking us alongside some of the most loved consumer brands in the United States. And 79% of our patients say the quality of the care they received was far above average.
