Ovatient expands leadership team, welcoming Lisa Belisle, M.D., Ph.D., Medical Director for Integrated Primary Care; and Amy Lukowski, Psy.D., Director of Integrated Behavioral Health
For the digital health community, there has been considerable debate in recent months about the future of health delivery and the role of virtual care. At Ovatient, we’re blazing a new trail by building an innovative virtual-first care model that benefits health systems and patients.
Our approach to virtual care puts patients first — empowering them to pick how, when and where they get care. But unlike most virtual care and telehealth organizations that focus on single-point solutions or episodic urgent care visits, Ovatient provides health systems with a comprehensive virtual care solution. We’re deepening connections between trusted health systems and patients by offering a turnkey, integrated virtual-first multispecialty practice that includes urgent care, primary care, behavioral health, as well as other specialty services that are built on Epic and fully integrated into health systems’ existing operations.
Growing Our Leadership Team
And we’re taking another important step in advancing this bold, new vision for healthcare. This month, we welcomed two new clinical experts to our leadership team: Lisa Belisle, M.D., Ph.D., Medical Director for Integrated Primary Care and Amy Lukowski, Psy.D., Director of Integrated Behavioral Health. They bring to Ovatient tremendous clinical and leadership experience that will accelerate our mission to deliver more connected, coordinated and convenient care for every patient.
“I am thrilled to welcome Lisa and Amy to our leadership team at Ovatient, and I look forward to working with them to better serve patients and customers as we continue to build on our innovative, integrated, virtual-first multispecialty practice,” said Ovatient CEO Michael Dalton. “Ovatient was founded by MUSC Health and the MetroHealth System with the belief that we could drive innovation from inside the health system ecosystem. These talented and impressive clinical leaders know how to launch clinical offerings and understand how to navigate and team with health systems. They will help drive our continued success as we strengthen our partnership with MUSC Health and MetroHealth and extend our person-centered care model with new health systems and other partners.”
About Lisa Belisle, M.D., Ph.D.
Lisa Belisle joins Ovatient with more than 20 of years’ experience in family and integrative medicine, including most recently working as a consultant at DocExecutive, providing wellness programs and individualized coaching for medical professionals, along with medical leadership consulting. She also has served as Associate Chief Medical Officer and Primary Care Service Line Medical Director at MaineGeneral and clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Medicine. Belisle hosts the video podcast “Radio Maine with Dr. Lisa Belisle,” where she highlights creative individuals who share a Maine connection.
In her role with Ovatient, Belise will lead Ovatient’s primary and urgent care team as part of a virtual patient-centered medical home, spearhead Ovatient’s quality measurement program and help lead our push to deliver fully integrated virtual primary care that connects patients to specialty services like our new virtual behavioral health offering, as well as in-person specialty services offered by our health system customers.
“I am excited to join Ovatient and look forward to working with Michael and the leadership team, as well as the organization’s incredible virtual care team,” Belisle said. “I strongly believe Ovatient’s mission and care model addresses what’s been missing in digital health. By partnering with health systems to connect patients to all the care they need, wherever they are — virtually and in-person when necessary — we can improve patient outcomes and help health systems and others increase their share of care.”
About Amy Lukowski, Psy.D.
With more than 15 years of clinical experience, Amy Lukowski comes to Ovatient from CirrusMD, where she served as Senior Behavioral Health Consultant. She previously served as Senior Director of Mental Health Content at Teladoc/Livongo, and she also held a number of leadership and academic appointments with National Jewish Health and the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver.
Lukowski will lead the rollout of Ovatient’s new virtual behavioral health services, partnering with Belisle, our nationwide care team and the care teams within our health system customers, to expand access to high-quality and convenient mental health support that is fully integrated into primary care.
“Ovatient is built on an incredible foundation that from its inception aimed to deliver virtual care services that take into account the whole-person, values the importance of mental health and can connect a patient to behavioral health services wherever they are at in their health journey. I am proud to join the organization at a critical time and help advance its mission to more seamlessly connect patients to the high-quality and convenient care they need and deserve,” Lukowski said.
