Approach to Care

I approach providing care, especially in a virtual environment, by foremost making sure my patients are comfortable and heard. I believe in meeting my patients where they are with their mindset, health reasoning, and goals. Patients can expect to have a healthcare professional with over 15 years of experience (emergency medicine, hospitalist, urgent care, and professor) to treat and evaluate them. They will understand their diagnosis and the treatment options. They will feel comfortable in our virtual space and free to ask questions with proper follow up. I connect and build trust with my patients by always meeting them where they are and not treating them as though they are just another individual seeking care. Each patient is unique in their own way and that is to be considered and appreciated. My philosophy with providing care has always been to treat my patients like me and family/friends would be treated. I am the patients’ outlet and safe space so I must continue to allow them to embrace an environment where they feel free to express their healthcare concerns without judgement.

• Undergraduate: Alcorn State University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduated in 2007.
• Graduate: University of South Alabama, Master of Science in Nursing, graduated in 2011.
• Doctorate: University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Doctorate of Nursing Practice, graduated in 2013.

  American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) – Family Nurse Practitioner
  American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) – Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Fun Fact

My nickname is Happy and I’ve had it since I was a baby. My entire family and some friends call me by my nickname. I have been on House Hunters and Family Feud. I’ve had many unique experiences but what stands out is white water rafting and being thrown from the raft and having to grab the rope while swimming against currents (unique and scary)!
